Farm Science Alliance brings researchers at the University of California, Berkeley on visits to local farms. Researchers are either directly contributing to agricultural research, or are interested in agriculture. The program that aims to create dialog between researchers at UC Berkeley and California farmers through farm visits.

This is an opportunity to:

  • Establish direct communication between UC scientists and farmers
  • Allow farmers to express challenges they face and what investigations and/or solutions would be most valuable from the scientific community
  • Allow scientist to share current information about research topics that are of interest to farmers
  • Allow farmers to share practices they are experimenting with on their farms
  • Open possible avenues for future collaborations

As researchers, we are investigating methods to build more resilient and adaptable and sustainable agricultural practices. Open communication between scientists and farmers will help ensure that new research and technology addresses issues faced in the field, and that our research incorporates observations and knowledge from farmers.

If you are interested in hosting a small group of researchers for a visit to your farm, please contact Nate Diplock (diplockn@berkeley.edu). The timing and details of the visits can be tailored to your availability
