Our CLEAR group celebrated Fascination of Plants Day by hosting a Science on Tap event at a bar in Oakland CA. These graduate students in plant and microbial biology want to get out into the community and just talk with people about science that might not otherwise have a reason to hear about plants and microbes. Polls have shown that the majority of people have never even met a scientists.  The CLEAR students want to change that!! They took along hops and barley so they could talk about the science of brewing and a bunch of Pop-It beads to demonstrate what goes on when you cross one plant with another.
